
Byrd Racing History
1985-1990 - Teamed with Rich Vogler. Qualified for 5 Indianapolis 500's; 8th place in 1989. Scored 2 USAC National Midget Championships, 5 ESPN television championships.
1991 to 2001 - Entered and qualified for the Indy 500 with drivers Stan Fox, Gordon Johncock, Buddy Lazier, Scott Brayton, John Andretti, Davy Jones, Arie Luyendyk, Mike Groff, and Jaques Lazier.
1994 - Teamed with the legendary A.J. Foyt, and allowed John Andretti to become the 1st, and 1 of only 3 drivers to compete in both the Indy 500 and Charlotte 600 on the same day. Andretti would later qualify the Byrd entry in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's inaugural Brickyard 400.
1996 - Formed Indy Racing League team with Arie Luyendyk. Scored a pole and victory at Phoenix International Raceway; set the all-time qualifying speed records at both Phoenix International Raceway and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
1997 - Placed 4th in Indy Car points championship
1998 - Captured race victory with driver John Paul, Jr. Lone Star 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.
2005 - Buddy Lazier gives Byrd Family its best start (9th) and finish (5th), in a car entered by the Byrd Brothers.
Has had 17 cars compete in the Indianapolis 500, garnering 8 Top-10 finishes.
